Rope Lava

The rug Rope Lava

This rug is 2 cm thick and then cut down to make a 3D effect in lava.  Here it is photographed at the Glacier Lagoon Jokulasarlon at Vatnajokul National Park.  This formation of lava called rope or pahoehoe lava can be seen in many places in Iceland.

Hand sculping the rug with scissors is very time consuming using different size of scissors to get the required 3D effect.  The colours used are slate grey, black, dark red, red, orange and yellow

The new rug Dragon Lava or in Icelandic Drekahraun photosession at Reynisfjara in s-Iceland.  This beautiful place is the perfect backdrop for the rugs.  Here the Dragon Lava rug is photographed with Reynisdrangar in the background.  We had to be there quite early to beat the tourists.  We nearly did that however the 10 people enjoying the black lava beach were not in our way so everything went by the book and we finished the photoshoot on time.

The making of the Millennium Lava Rug

Here we will follow the making of the Millennium Lava rug from the sketch on paper to the finished product, this amazing rug.

This rug was commissioned by people who visit Iceland often and have fallen in love with it.  The rug should remind them of iceland and also fit well into their beautiful designed apartment.
